The senate has been debating the closure of the Obamacare, and this has been a very hot debate, with senators on the side of Trump and Obama stating their preferences and opinions. Bernie Sanders is one of them, and he just brought a gigantic Trump tweet to the senate floor.
Bernie brought the printed tweet to demonstrate his point that president-elect Donald Trump, has promised not to cut Medicare and Medicaid benefits. He even stated that if Trump actually plans to cut the benefits, he should admit now that he was lying as many people actually voted for him based on the belief that he would keep his word.
The tweets were those Trump posted May 2015, and it read, “I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Huckabee copied me.”
Sanders stated, “If he was sincere, then I would hope that tomorrow or maybe today he could send out a tweet and tell his Republican colleagues to stop wasting their time and all of our time. And Mr. Trump should tell the American people that he will veto any proposal that cuts Medicare, that cuts Medicaid or that cuts Social Security.”
This comes after Mike Pence and President Obama started an Obamacare battle. The president had paid a visit to Capitol Hill in hopes of protecting his signature legislative achievement against an attempt by the GOP to dismantle it. The vice president-elect was said to have called for a swift but “smooth” repeal of the initiative.
Mike Pence also added, “The first order of business is to repeal and replace Obamacare, and that was our message today and that will be our message on Capitol Hill.” Trump had earlier gone on Twitter to blame Democrats for the “massive increase” in premiums and he stated that law will “fall of its own weight.”
Whether Obamacare survives is still a matter of time, let’s just wait and see what comes out of the issues on ground, but should Republicans have control of GOP, Mike Pence’s plan may actually come into play, and that may mean we have to say a goodbye to Obamacare as soon as Obama leaves the Whitehouse.
